We, the concerned citizens, former patients, and advocates for mental health, stand united in our call for justice and accountability. It is with heavy hearts that we bring to light the disturbing allegations of malpractice and negligence that have taken place within the walls of Sheppard Pratt Mental Hospital. It is our moral duty to ensure that those entrusted with the care of vulnerable individuals receive the highest standard of treatment and support. Together, we seek to shed light on these issues and demand the necessary changes to protect the well-being and dignity of those in need. We demand the following:

1. An independent and thorough investigation into allegations of abuse, malpractice, and medical neglect at the Sheppard Pratt campus in Towson.

2. The appointment of an oversight committee composed of experts in the fields of mental health and medical care to assess the facility's practices, staff qualifications, and overall quality of care.

3. Transparency in the investigation process, with regular updates provided to the public, and the involvement of relevant authorities and advocacy groups.

4. Implementation of immediate corrective measures and, if necessary, legal actions to hold those responsible for any wrongdoing accountable.

This cause holds profound personal significance to me and many others who have suffered at the hands of the Sheppard Pratt campus in Towson. During my time there, I experienced psychological abuse, medical negligence, and witnessed countless horrors that have left an indelible mark on my life. 

I was subjected to the following traumatic experiences:

1. Psychological Abuse: I was constantly subjected to emotional and psychological abuse by the staff. I was accused of lying and was screamed at for merely expressing my needs and concerns.

2. Medical Neglect: They forced me to take a medication my body responded to poorly, leaving me on the floor, completely paralyzed and unable to breathe. Despite my severe distressing condition, I was cruelly accused of faking my symptoms and denied the urgent medical attention I so desperately needed. This exacerbated my symptoms, leading to an already horrible condition to become worse  My own mother doesn’t believe me due to the lies this facility has told. I now have a chronic illness that I am in therapy for, as well as PTSD. 

3. Inhumane Conditions: Sheppard Pratt was chronically understaffed, and the few staff members present displayed extremely rude behavior towards already traumatized children, exacerbating our suffering.

Since the start of this petition, many former patients have come forward explaining how they’ve been mistreated by Sheppard Pratt. It’s not just me; dozens have been neglected by this facility. 

My personal experience underscores the urgent need for an investigation into Sheppard Pratt. We must ensure that no one else endures the pain and suffering that I and others have faced within the confines of this facility.
