Sandra Birchmore was 23 years old and three months pregnant living in Canton, Massachusetts and working as a teacher’s assistant. On February 1, 2021, Matthew Farwell was captured on a surveillance camera entering Sandra’s apartment building in a dark hood and mask. 28 minutes later, Matthew was seen leaving the elevator, hooded and masked at 4 minutes before 10:00 PM. Sandra Birchmore had confided if anything happened to her it was Matthew. Matthew Farwell was a detective with the Stoughton Police Department at the time. He was also married with children. Sandra Birchmore had told people her baby was Matthew’s. Matthew told Sandra to “take care of it” or he would. Matthew was the last person to see Sandra alive. 

Matthew Farwell, his brother William Farwell, and Robert Devine, all officers with Stoughton Police Department were found to have been grooming and sexually exploiting Sandra Birchmore since she was a teenager. Devine had contacted Birchmore via Facebook Messenger on February 1, 2021. 

Sandra Birchmore was found in her apartment bedroom with the door closed, with what was deemed to be a suicide. However, most people have never seen a suicide in this way - a lanyard tied to a closet doorknob. Sandra’s death, and the death of her unborn child were not investigated as a potential homicide.
This is a call to action to demand a proper investigation to understand the suspicious death of Sandra Birchmore and criminal charges for the statutory rape by police officers of Stoughton Police Department.
