This week, longtime Trump ally Roger Stone publicly called for the execution of Democratic Senator Mark Kelly — because Kelly criticized Trump’s controversial cryptocurrency fundraising scheme.

“Trump is cashing in on his presidency and making millions from his own crypto coins. It’s corruption in broad daylight,” Kelly said in a post on X.

As NYT reports, Trump is auctioning off private dinners with himself. The auction is being run through Trump Coin, a cryptocurrency linked directly to Trump’s business empire and image, and the events themselves are being hosted by Trump-owned properties.

In response, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Stone wrote that Senator Kelly should be “charged with treason and, if convicted, executed” for calling out the ethical dangers of Trump’s $TRUMP Coin — a cryptocurrency that has already brought in millions for the Trump family and is closely tied to foreign investors.

Kelly is co-sponsoring a bill to ban sitting presidents and elected officials from promoting cryptocurrencies to avoid conflicts of interest.

Stone’s response wasn’t debate. It was a violent threat.

This kind of rhetoric crosses a line — and it puts public officials, their families, and our democracy in danger.

We call on the Department of Justice to immediately investigate Roger Stone for incitement and threats against a sitting U.S. senator - and hold Stone accountable.
