Investigate Potential Sanctions Concerns tied to Iran trip by UK citizen

Investigate Potential Sanctions Concerns tied to Iran trip by UK citizen
The Issue
We call on the UK Government and relevant enforcement bodies to review and, where appropriate, investigate any potential breaches of UK sanctions, foreign-influence, or financial-transparency laws in connection with public advocacy by UK national Bushra Shaikh following travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Recent publicly available reporting and online content indicate that Ms Shaikh travelled to Iran and has since shared commentary supportive of positions aligned with the Iranian government. Given the UK’s sanctions regime concerning Iran, the designation of the IRGC under UK counter-terrorism frameworks, and the UK’s increasing focus on transparency around foreign-state influence, it is in the public interest to ensure that all relevant laws and disclosure requirements have been complied with.
This petition does not assert wrongdoing or guilt. Rather, it requests that the appropriate authorities review publicly available information and determine whether any formal investigation, clarification, or disclosure review is warranted. Transparency and consistent enforcement of sanctions and foreign-influence rules are essential to maintaining public confidence in the UK’s national-security and financial-integrity frameworks.
We respectfully ask the UK Government, including the Home Office, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI), and relevant law-enforcement bodies, to confirm that any necessary compliance checks or reviews are undertaken and that the public is reassured that applicable laws are being upheld.
We support due process and request only that the appropriate authorities review this matter in accordance with UK law and in the public interest
