Today, I read that the NOAA has found "a devious way to increase their budget without the checks and balances guaranteed by our forefathers, and the courts have let it stand". Source: http://www.fosters.com/news/20171015/noaa-fisheries-rule-should-alarm-taxpayers The gist: fishermen have been forced to sign contracts with for-profit third-party companies that provide at-sea monitors (ASM) for $710 per day. The likely outcome: small boat fishermen will be forced off the water and the fishery will be corporatized. It seems the cover-ups never end. What's more, the Trump administration is refusing to give 25 species "endangered" status. Five bills that would change the Endangered Species Act will "strip safeguards from all non-native species within the US and enable the FWS to deny protections for a species if there is an economic cost to the safeguards" (see my video above). In fact, "petty disputes about just a handful of animals could even trigger the delisting of more than 1,000 plants and animals" according to this IFL Science post: http://www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/utah-senators-propose-stripping-1100-species-of-protection-just-to-get-rid-of-prairie-dogs And even though the NOAA and DFO worked fast to shuffle North Atlantic right whale deaths under-the-rug, plenty of insectivores, shorebirds, and other vertebrates will die or suffer massive breeding failures in the near future. I suspect the next to suffer the impacts of Wolbachia infections (with or without Zika, WNV, SLEV, JEV) include: Arctic terns, Roseate terns, red knots, sandpipers, red shank, common nighthawks, Swainson's hawks, red-eyed vireos, purple martins, barn and cliff swallows, blackpoll, cerulean and Connecticut warblers, scarlet tanagers, and bobolinks. For more (with 38 citations): http://www.infobarrel.com/Birds_as_Reservoir_Hosts_of_Zika_What_You_Are_Not_Being_Told I'm fighting to make it a priority that Wolbachia-infected Aedes are investigated and that tests for Wolbachia and Zika become routine in vertebrates. Let's keep this conversation going and keep the signatures coming in. More whales will die, I am certain of that. And I suspect that the push to legalize marijuana is going to be touted as the reason for the fertility issues men will suffer from Wolbachia/Zika infections. My post devoted to men with Zika infections goes into greater detail (and includes a possible treatment option to discuss with your doctor): http://www.infobarrel.com/Zika_Shrivels_Testes_Drops_Testosterone_and_May_Cause_Infertility A disturbing fact: endangered species are protected (currently) more than human life is which is why I am fighting so hard to have North Atlantic right whales tested for Wolbachia, Zika, WNV, and SLEV.
