Investigate Grok for Critical Breach of Personal User Data
The Issue
Nearly 300,000 private Grok AI conversations have been exposed through Google search results—many without the users’ knowledge or consent.
From secure password requests to personal health inquiries and sensitive mental health disclosures, the leak reveals just how dangerous and unregulated chatbot data handling has become.
Elon Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok, created public-facing links any time a user clicked the “share” button—making chats searchable by default and leaving private conversations wide open to indexing by search engines. This includes conversations containing potentially identifying information, medical details, and even dangerous content.
This isn’t a small glitch. It’s a massive privacy breach that puts users at risk—permanently.
We are calling on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to launch an immediate investigation into Grok’s data-sharing policies and whether they violated user privacy rights;
Congressional committees on technology and consumer protection to hold hearings on the risks of unregulated AI data handling.
As one AI ethicist put it, this is “a privacy disaster in progress.” And without accountability, it’s only going to get worse.
Users were never warned that their conversations could become public. They didn’t opt into being part of an experiment. They trusted a platform—and that trust was broken.
Sign this petition to demand a full investigation into Grok’s data breach and to set real limits on how AI platforms handle our most private conversations.
