The Issue

Hi, I’m Denise, and I’m reaching out because what happened to me at Delaware State University is something no student should experience. I was removed from my master's program in molecular and cellular neuroscience after I raised concerns about the alleged mishandling of federal grant money. I reported these issues to Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, hoping that speaking out would help improve the program and ensure accountability.

My journey at Delaware State had been challenging, I struggled to access basic resources like ethanol and gloves necessary for my research. When the Senator planned to visit our labs, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring these issues to light. But instead of addressing the concerns I raised, the university decided to remove me from the program.

This isn’t just about me; it’s about ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of federal funds that flow into educational institutions. Delaware State University reportedly receives millions in federal grants for research, yet the reality for students in the program is far from what the university's polished image suggests. Knowing that these funds may not be used appropriately raises serious questions that affect all current and prospective students.

I’ve already taken steps by filing in court, but I believe we need a thorough investigation into how these funds are managed. This petition is about safeguarding student rights and ensuring that federal grants are used for their intended purposes—advancing research and supporting students.

By signing this petition, you are supporting the call for a full investigation into the alleged grant misuse at Delaware State University. It’s time for change and transparency in our educational institutions. Please sign and make a difference.
