Investigate Dead and Maggot Infested Monkeys at UC Davis

I live in California. I love it most of the time, but some things are just shameful. Please sign my petition if you are outraged by this cruelty.

Let me explain. According to the group Stop Animal Exploitation Now, a monkey at the California Regional Primate Research Center died with a Bungee cord wrapped around her neck. And another monkey's corpse was rotting for so long that it had been infested with maggots.

Many more were seen exhibiting self-destructive behaviors and some were killed!

A federal investigation is needed into how something like this could have happened.

Immediate action should be taken against University of California, Davis, for all violations of the animal Welfare Act. This includes severe penalties because negligence at this lab has killed numerous primates and caused others to suffer horribly.

UC Davis should also initiate an independent investigation of the California Primate Research Center, and begin retiring animals to sanctuaries instead of just killing them. They should have the funds to do it, and as a member of the animal protection community I know many people who are happy to help with these steps, too.

Please sign! This is not the way to move science forward in this day and age.

I just signed the following petition addressed to: UC Davis.

----------------
Investigate primate abuse

According to the group Stop Animal Exploitation Now, a monkey at the California Regional Primate Research Center died with a Bungee cord wrapped around her neck. And another monkey's corpse was rotting for so long that it had been infested with maggots.

Many more were seen exhibiting self-destructive behaviors and some were killed.

A federal investigation and one internally from UC Davis are needed so we know how something like this could have happened and how to prevent it in the future!

Sincerely,
