My life has been personally touched by the poor state of our public health system. This intrinsic experience instils in me the importance of an efficient, accessible, and proactive healthcare system for all. This is not only my story, but the narrative of millions in our society who are drastically affected by the shortcomings of our public health setup.

Given the current global health crisis, it's become clear that an investment in public health equates to an investment in our future. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that preventative healthcare decreases the probability of disease and has a positive influence on society's health and productivity overall. Furthermore, strong public health systems are a key factor in ensuring the early detection of health threats, allowing for a prompt response preventing wider spread and severity.

Yet, the lack of funding and systemic issues continues to plague the public healthcare system, producing a significant detriment to the nation's overall health. This cannot remain as our status quo.
