Invest More in Los Angeles Animal Shelters

Invest More in Los Angeles Animal Shelters
The Issue
For too long, I have been witnessing the dire plight of our animals. Los Angeles, a city known for its prosperity and grandeur, continues to be unjust to its animal shelters by continually cutting their budgets. This has led to innumerable issues such as significant overcrowding and, tragically, the unnecessary euthanasia of our furry friends. There is an urgent need to address this issue head-on.
According to data from Los Angeles Animal Services, our city's shelters took in over 38,000 dogs and more than 34,000 cats in the year 2019 alone. This is too high a number for the currently underfunded shelters to handle effectively. The majority of these animals do not make it out alive because there just isn't enough room or resources to house and care for them all.
The reduction of animal shelter funding is not only harming the animals but also staining the reputation of Los Angeles, a city that prides itself on innovation, compassion, and progress. We owe it to ourselves and our values to remain steadfast in our commitment to every life within our city.
For the love of animals and for the integrity of our great city, we must insist on increased funding for Los Angeles animal shelters. This will ensure they have the resources necessary to provide the right standard of care and attention to every animal that comes through their doors.
Let's be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Sign this petition to urge our city to invest more in Los Angeles animal shelters.
