Facilitating a live stream Zoom Funeral in the Greenock Crematorium
The Issue
Hi everyone,
The Greenock Crematorium is currently the only crematorium in Scotland that does not facilitate or have equipment in place to stream a live funeral service. This is completely unacceptable given the benefits that modern technology can provide, and also that we are nearly 1 year into these restrictions being in place and no change or progress has been made to enable deserving people to be part of this prominent day.
In 2020-2021 everyone has endured the devastating effects of COVID-19 in some way or another. The restrictions that are currently in place only allow 20 people to attend a funeral service, whether it be COVID related, or any other cause of death during this already challenging time. Where this restricted capacity is completely necessary in the current climate, it does not mean that so many family members or friends should needlessly miss out on this day.
Families theirselves who wish to stream the service via Zoom in the Greenock crematorium whether it be to close family who live abroad, extended family, friends or life-long colleagues are being advised to bring their own iPads, laptops or even mobile phones to enable this. This is an unnecessary stress being added to the families who are organising the Service, which is in itself challenging enough.
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION in the hopes that Inverclyde Council implement the immediate changes needed and purchase the basic equipment to allow deserving family and friends to be rightfully part of a special send off of a loved one.
