Petition Update: Continuing the Mission for the Traditional Latin Mass in Belize

Since launching our petition to introduce the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) in Belize, we have seen a growing interest and support from Catholics who desire this sacred and reverent form of worship. However, our mission has faced challenges, particularly with the passing of Bishop Lawrence Sydney Nicasio (requiescat in pace) in January 2024.

At this time, the Diocese of Belize City and Belmopan remains without a bishop, and Very Reverend Fr. Jordan Gongora has been appointed as Diocesan Administrator. While we await the appointment of a new bishop, we continue working toward the goal of securing a regular celebration of the TLM in Belize.

How We Are Moving Forward

Strengthening Community Support: More Catholics are learning about the beauty of the Traditional Latin Mass, and we are gathering more voices to show that there is real demand for it in Belize.

Engaging with Clergy: We are reaching out to local priests and religious leaders who may be open to supporting the introduction of the TLM, whether through special Masses or long-term plans but we need you to call your local priests and request them to learn and say the mass. If you or a family member knows a priest willing to petition on our behalf please reach out via our Facebook page. 

Preparing for the Future Bishop: Once a new bishop is appointed, we will present our petition and request for the TLM, showing that the faithful in Belize are eager for this liturgical tradition.
