Introduce the Traditional Latin Mass in Belize

The Issue

As a native of Belize who has had the privilege to experience the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) in various parts of the world, I have come to appreciate its allure and beauty. This form of worship has brought me closer to Jesus and his Mother Mary through its reverence and beauty. It is a timeless tradition that transcends cultural boundaries, offering an enriching spiritual experience that many in our country have yet to encounter.

In recent years, we've seen an increasing desire among young people for more traditional forms of worship. The TLM could serve as a powerful tool for Catholic evangelization and growth within our community. However, currently there are no locations in Belize where this mass is celebrated weekly.

We therefore petition Bishop Lawrence Sydney Nicasio, Metropolitan Archbishop Charles Henry Dufour, and Auxiliary Bishop Christopher Glancy, C.S.V., to introduce at least one location in Belize for the weekly celebration of the TLM.

With different Protestant groups, new age worship practices and other religions gaining ground in Belize, it's more important than ever that we offer something timeless - something that can bring our brethren back into the fold of Catholicism.

This petition isn't just about introducing a form of mass; it's about preserving our faith heritage while responding to contemporary spiritual needs. We believe that having access to TLM will not only enrich our religious lives but also strengthen our community's bond with Catholicism.

Now that a TLM has been established in other areas of the Archdiocese, chief among those areas being in Jamaica, we ask that a mass also be established here in beautiful Belize.
