The regulations

In short, there are none. Pet food is self regulated, meaning it is up to the pet food company on what (if any) protocols they put in place, how they manufacture or formulate their food and what quality control is performed. Here in Australia, there’s no governing body overseeing pet food. There is no way that the caring pet owner can rely on information that is advertised, provided on packaging, "quality" claims, or ingredient detail. 

In short, Australia one of the highest rates of pet ownership per capita in the world, allowing such neglect and carelessness? Nothing less than shameful. The photos are all taken in Australia.
