As parents in Vigo County with children passionate about football, we see an urgent need to introduce this sport into our middle schools. Our children love football, and we believe it can have a positive impact on their lives and our community. Unfortunately, football is currently missing from our local middle schools' sports programs through the school system.

In 2017, a survey from the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) established that 1,039,079 high school students nationwide were involved in football. The impact of football on these students' lives is substantial. It boosts their teamwork and leadership skills, encourages them to focus on their education, and instills a healthier lifestyle.

Yet, in Vigo County, our middle schools lack this fulfilling opportunity. Football is currently ran by the Boys and girls club and it’s dwindling down to nothing. Over the last several years we have lost 2/3 of our numbers and it’s getting worse every year. As more children in our county are missing out on these benefits, it’s time for us to turn the tide.

We believe that introducing football at the middle school level would give students a head-start in cultivating these essential skills and experiences. Plus, it would create a stronger sense of community through school spirit and local football games.
