I am a vegan, meaning no meat or eggs form a part of my dietary intake. Living in Canada, the options to eat out at fast-food joints that are economical as well as align with my lifestyle are frustratingly limited. Popular fast-food joints such as McDonald's and Wendy's offer scant vegan-friendly options in burgers. This poses a significant challenge for vegans like me seeking affordable and convenient food alternatives.

To address this issue, we petition McDonald's, a leading global food service retailer, to introduce vegetarian options from its Indian menu in Canada. These include popular and loved options like McVeggie, McAloo Tikki and McPuff. These items have been received with great appreciation in India, contributing to McDonald's growth in the Indian fast-food market which was worth around $1.5 billion in 2019 (Statista, 2019).

Providing these options in Canada will not only cater to the country's growing vegetarian and vegan population – which Increased by 1.3 million people from 2003 to 2018 according to Dalhousie University researchers (The Star, 2018) - but also contribute to overall consumer choice and market diversity.
