As a devoted student of Black Hills State University, I have long felt that our beloved institution should reap all it can from the rich tapestry of collegiate experiences. Unfortunately, there still remains a notable absence - the lack of Greek Life.

Greek Life is not simply a community; it is a transformative experience that can enhance both individual and group development, fostering leaders, promoting academic excellence, and creating lifelong friendships. Research has shown that fraternity and sorority involvement can have a positive impact on student satisfaction, retention, achievement, and career advancement (Pascarella, Edison, Nora, Hagedorn, and Terenzini, 1996). Thus, I strongly believe that introducing Greek Life to our university will not only elevate the student experience but will also place Black Hills State University on par with other leading institutions in the United States.

This is about equity; this is about offering Black Hills State students the same transformative experiences that other students around the country have the privilege of having. This is about being part of a community, and learning valuable life skills while you do so. By bringing Greek Life to our university, we can foster a community that celebrates camaraderie, humanitarian acts, and academic excellence.
