Rebecca Carr (also known as Rebecca Simmonds) went missing on 25 November 2002 after her grandparents dropped her off near Gillingham railway station. She is 5ft 8in, of slim build and had mousy brown long curly hair at the time she disappeared. She had been staying at Beatty Avenue with friends. Her mum, Lynne Simmonds still lives in the family home in Bingham Road, Frindsbury, near Strood.

Note from Laura Simmonds (sister)

When my sister first went missing, the police took her disappearance seriously and made a radio appeal within 24hrs. Search teams were deployed quickly and they did an extensive investigation, exhausting all enquiries. After the initial period and people stopped phoning in with new leads, the case soon got handed to a cold case team. Even when sightings were being reported, we were told of the sighting, but were never told the outcome. Unless we contact the police for updates, we don’t have any communication since our liaison officer, Dean Barnes retired. At a very minimum, we would expect an annual review in writing that would at least offer some comfort that Rebecca has not been forgotten.

If you have any information that can help officers, please contact Kent Police on 101. If you would prefer to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or use their online reporting service. Alternatively phone Missing People 24/7 helpline on 116 000 quoting reference 03-000310.
