Esra Uyrun was 37yrs old when she went missing on 23 February 2011 in Ireland. She left her home at 7.15am in Collinstown Grove, Clondalkin in her silver Renault Twingo, registration number 08D23067.
Esra is 5ft 3in with dark hair with light highlights and green eyes. When last seen she was wearing a dark top and black leggings. It was originally thought she was wearing white Nike trainers, but they were later found at home. It remains unknown what footwear she had on. CCTV captured her car turning right from Convent Avenue into Strand Road in Bray at 8.40am on the same day. It almost collided with a silver Skoda Ocatavia and moved into the left hand side of the road. The Skoda overtook and both vehicles continued down Strand Road. Esra’s car was later found parked in the car park at the bottom of Bray Head. Unfortunately, the footage is not clear enough to distinguish who was driving the vehicle and attempts to get the CCTV enhanced have been unsuccessful.
A note from Berna Fidan (sister)
“Garda did not take Esra’s disappearance seriously and kept insinuating she was probably depressed after the death of our father. They also tried to convince me she had taken her own life. I completely refute these theories as she would never have left her son.
A search team comprising five people were not deployed to Bray Head until four days later, by which time family and myself had covered more areas on a daily basis. The communication was very poor and I had to keep phoning for updates as nobody kept me informed. On one occasion, I was kept waiting six hours at the station for someone to come out to talk to me.
Seven years on, the only time I hear from the Garda is when I have made contact, but then I have a lengthy wait for a response. They don’t appear to be actively investigating my sister’s disappearance and it is left to me to keep Esra’s name in the media by making frequent appeals. My mum and brother’s health have also been seriously impacted by living with the agony of our ambiguous loss”.
