Introduce Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Conroe ISD

Introduce Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Conroe ISD

The Issue

After spending over 22 years in education, I recognize the critical need for innovative interventions to engage and support our students. I've personally experienced the transformative power of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and am eager to share its benefits with the students in Conroe ISD. From boosting confidence to strengthening community bonds, BJJ is an all-encompassing program that can vastly enhance school culture.

Three schools within Conroe ISD have already expressed interest in serving as pilot locations for this exciting initiative. Led by Chris Ortiz, a highly decorated teacher and coach with 16 years of on-the-mat experience and a 1st-degree black belt, the BJJ program promises to physically engage our energetic youth while offering them a safe and constructive environment to channel their energy.

This program is poised to benefit all students, from high achievers to those hard-to-handle. It provides a new, challenging endeavor that is both physically and cerebrally stimulating. Importantly, BJJ offers an opportunity for youth who might not have access to local gym facilities to experience and benefit from this martial art.

The community at large stands to gain significantly from such an initiative. Whether by providing an inclusive activity parents can feel good about or by helping reduce behavioral issues and improve focus, BJJ stands as a viable solution to several challenges faced by educators and families today.

Join us in bringing this innovative program to Conroe ISD. Let's give our students the tools they need to thrive physically, mentally, and socially. Sign the petition to show your support for introducing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as an intervention program within our schools.
