Petition updateMake beauty products available to people of all skin colours in Australian retailers.Coles In-store Trials now live - all 40 shades of Maybelline Fit me available

Exciting update! Coles have now begun selling all 40 shades of Maybelline Fit me foundation as part of a three month "trial" in ten stores nationwide as well as servicing neighbouring suburbs online.

The ten chosen stores are:

VIC: Berwick, Burwood East, Braybrook Ballarat Rd. Richmond Hub (online only)

NSW: Kirrawee and Willowdale. Alexandria (online only)

QLD: Aspley Hypermarket

SA: Churchill Centre

ACT: Gungahlin

This is the first time that people of colour will be able to purchase foundation from a supermarket in-store!

Whilst these trials are a great step in the right direction, it is important that these changes are made permanent and across the whole country. Unfortunately, these ‘trials’ could very easily fail if people, especially those who have not been able to find their shade before, aren’t aware that they exist.

However, if the trials are to be made permanent, it would enable greater access to affordable makeup for BIPOC in Australia, especially BIPOC who are simultaneously disadvantaged by disability, low socio-economic status, gender identity, age and geographic location.

Here's how you can help:

  • If your postcode is listed and your shade is available in Woolworths or Coles, please consider adding a bottle to your weekly shop as a show of support. The trial postcodes and more information can be found at www.makethespace.org. You can find your shade match at www.findation.com or the Maybelline Fit Me Shade Finder at www.maybelline.com.au Perhaps purchase a bottle for a friend or family member!
  • Share the news of the trial to your friends and family and encourage them to sign the petition and purchase a bottle if they can.
  • Leave feedback for Woolworths and Coles to request that they make the range offering permanent. You can copy and paste the following message into the feedback form if you prefer, using the title 'Maybelline Fit me foundation trials': "I am writing to commend you on the initiative to extend your makeup ranges for all skin tones for a trial period. I request that this trial be made permanent to allow equal access to cosmetics for all Australians, regardless of their skin colour."
