Introduce a 'Defenders of India' Currency Series
Introduce a 'Defenders of India' Currency Series
The Issue
The current Mahatma Gandhi series of notes in India predominantly features the image of Mahatma Gandhi. It is crucial that the contributions of other freedom fighters and historical figures who played vital roles in defending India against foreign invasions are formally recognized on our currency notes.
Throughout India's rich history, numerous individuals have valiantly fought to protect our nation and its heritage from external threats. Figures like Rani Lakshmibai, Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, The Ahoms, Chola, Maurayans, Underrated Strategists and many others have made significant contributions towards the freedom and pride of India. However, the absence of their representations on our currency notes fails to reflect the comprehensive spirit of India's freedom struggle and rich cultural history.
Recognizing these leaders on our currency will not only pay tribute to their sacrifices but will also educate and inspire future generations about the diverse and courageous individuals who have shaped our nation's history. It will serve as an everlasting reminder of the resilience and bravery that have been integral in shaping the India we know today.
We propose the Reserve Bank of India and the Government to consider redesigning our currency notes to include a series that celebrates a variety of freedom fighters and historical icons. This change would not only honour their memories but also promote inclusivity and diversity in recognizing our national heritage. Introducing currency notes bearing different historical figures can be an educational tool, a source of national pride, and a symbolic gesture acknowledging the multifaceted history of India.
Support this petition to call upon the authorities to embrace a more inclusive representation on Indian currency notes. Sign and share this petition, so we can come together to honour the true breadth of India's history.
