Whale Poaching Should Stop in Norway, Iceland and Japan

The Issue

We (Ely, Asha, and Jacqueline), decided to do some research on whale poaching for ou English project, and this is what we found, and why we are so interested in this topic. Recently, Japan released a statement that said they were withdrawing from the International Whaling Committee or IWC that restricted commercial whaling. When we heard this we did some research and found some disturbing pictures of whale poaching. Giant, majestic creatures were being hauled onto a boat, their blood smeared across the deck. Seeing these images lead us to make this petition, we believe that whale poaching needs to be decreased, even if countries like Japan, Iceland, and Norway say otherwise. This is because whales becoming endangered would lead to serious consequences in the natural world, surveys have actually shown most of Japan don’t eat whale meat, but they continue to hunt whales, so the meat gets wasted, and even if whale poaching is a part of Japanese and Norwegian culture, too many whales are being killed yearly for it just to be because of “scientific research”. If you are with us, please sign this petition, and help save whales!
