We knew Xi Jinping’s party-dictatorship was undertaking a cultural genocide against the Uyghur people - we knew of evidence of a systematic campaign to level Uyghur graveyards, mosques and other important cultural sites. Sadly, we now know this regime is also undertaking a physical genocide of the Uyghur people. While millions of Uyghurs languish in concentration camps, and Han settlers displace the Uyghur people, China uses pregnancy checks, forced IUDs, sterilization and even abortion to reduce the population of Muslims in Xinjiang - a Mandarin Chinese-derived name which literally means “New Frontier,” something that perhaps hints at the racist, imperialist, neo-colonial nature of China’s apartheid regime in the territory. 

Despite this atrocious behavior, China still seemingly cares about global opinion. Shortly after The Washington Post called for a boycott of the 2022 Beijing Olympics over the genocide, Chinese state media issued threats against European academics researching these atrocities. They are clearly desperate not to lose the games. Sign this petition to the IOC calling for the games to be stripped from China until this genocide is halted.
