The Issue
From 1900-1920, athletes from across the globe tested the limits of human strength and stamina in Tug of War matches at the Olympic Games.
Who didn't grow up with the great sports legends of Tug of War? The US sweeping the medal count at the 1904 games! Forty pullers descending on Antwerp for the final 1920 match!
Yet today, schoolkids skip the muddy fields and chafing ropes in search of shallow glory in lesser sport.
It's time for the International Olympic Committee to do what's right - reinstate Tug of War as an Olympic Sport and restore the dignity and honor of this noble pursuit.
