Softball was in the Olympics from 1996 until 2008 when a committee vote removed it claiming there was a lack of interest. The vote to remove softball, was tied. The committee consisted of 105 voters, resulting in a 52-52 tie with one voter absent. There is some exciting news floating around the softball community that softball may come back to the Olympics in 2020. To let the Olympic Committee know we want to see this great sport to be on the world stage again, we need to spread the word and that starts with signing this petition.
My goal is to get 1000 signatures and then forward the petition to the International Olympic Committee. To reach this goal, I will be contacting various Softball Associations asking them to put a link on their home pages to this site. Milton Girls Softball has already agreed to do this for me, so I am hoping that others will do this too. I will also contact my family and friends, asking them to spread the word through their social media sites and linking back to the petition.
