Recent proposals by the International Football Association Board would radically change the way football is played, cutting half lengths to 30 minutes and introducing dribbling from free kicks.

The original rules, drawn up in the 19th century by the Football Association, stipulate that matches are to last for 90 minutes, and it has worked perfectly for over 150 years, while dribbling the ball from a free kick would completely defeat the point of a free *kick*.

These laws have been in place since the Football Association drew them up, and there is no justification for such change.
