The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has finally confirmed in an interview that the Nigerian Army was responsible for the shooting of unarmed peaceful protesters at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos on 20 October 2020. This is after the same army denied its involvement and denounced reports of the same, as fake news. It is now becoming clear that the once professional Nigerian Army has been turned into an instrument of coercion and propaganda whose key role is to apply brute force to silence defenceless citizens demanding for their rights in a constitutional democracy.
