After initially denying reports that its soldiers were present at Lekki Toll Gate on 20 October 2020 when live ammunition was used against the peaceful protesters at the scene, the Nigerian Army has now made a U -turn and admitted that its soldiers were there on that day. Given the blatant and shameless lies that they have told before finally making this admission can anyone now believe what they say anymore? It is indeed beginning to appear with each passing day that a once professional army has now been turned into a rogue band of brutal indisciplined armed thugs, for whom lying has become second nature. I trust the ICC would take note of this and ensure that its investigations are as objective and independent as possible.
