IBEW members against vaccine mandates

IBEW members against vaccine mandates
The Issue
WE, the members of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers stand together and wish to express our objection to COVID-19 vaccination mandates and inquiries into our vaccination status.
Living in the United States, we are blessed with the sacred freedoms that the Constitution provides us. One of those is the freedom to choose. Unfortunately, this freedom has recently been trampled upon. Instead of individuals making decisions about their well-being, we now have others telling us how we should care for ourselves. This includes politicians, the media, members of the community, and even employers.
Years ago, before the extreme polarization of people based on their opinions and political beliefs, we were able to discuss our viewpoints politely and openly. Now, any opposition to the mainstream narrative is confronted with hostility. This has especially accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic. When we try to reason with others, we are mocked. When we ask questions, we are ridiculed. When we try to abstain, we are threatened. This behavior is un-American.
On the other hand, standing for our individual freedoms is the essence of America. This concept created our country. And in that spirit, we are voicing our opposition declaring that we will take a stand for our individual freedoms. We join with all those around the United States and the world objecting compulsory vaccinations against COVID-19 and any inquiries into our vaccination status. Some of us oppose this vaccine, whether it is for medical, religious, or personal reasons. Others, despite being vaccinated, are against mandates and intrusions into our personal lives and medical decisions.
Ultimately, the government, an employer, or any other person shouldn’t have the ability to mandate this vaccine. No person should have to choose between their financial wellbeing and a voluntary medical treatment. Promised never to be mandatory, it has become a condition of employment and education for many. Individuals no longer have the freedom to choose. However, many of us will exercise that freedom and unfortunately retire or resign in opposition. We will stand with those around the country who are standing for freedom.
THEREFORE, we are demanding the union represent the workforce and defend us against any vaccination mandates or any inquiries into our vaccination status that may come from the federal government, state government, or company.
