Petition updateRemove Tax Exempt Status for Verity Baptist Church (Sacramento)Roger Jimenez overtly preaches his political views

Jul 6, 2016 — http://www.veritybaptist.com/media/mp3/20121014p.mp3 His positions are nonsensical -- if taken from a classical Christian perspective, heretical -- and he's a snake oil salesman -- but his actions also violate the requirements a church must meet to remain tax exempt. In this sermon he claims the following: 1. God is NOT against killing despite the sixth commandment -- because that was just a mistake of translation between Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek (three languages he does not speak) -- that what God meant was "Thou shall not murder" -- and you can only murder with malice, not in a war or in self-defense. 2. The King James Bible is its own dictionary despite the fact it was written by a group of guys who were paid to create a particular perspective to meet a particular political end. 3. God is not against weapons -- meaning, although guns didn't exist during Moses's time (or Jesus's) -- he is NOT in favor of gun control because, when Jesus was "getting ready to leave," he told people to buy swords -- told them to "get a weapon." 4. Says you're supposed to leave the camp to take a poo, and also to dig a cat hole to bury your poo, because God SAID SO -- and also believed Bubonic plague was because people lived in their own waste -- said everyone should carry their paddle (shovel) and place it upon their weapon (which, again, suggests God was in favor of having weapons). 5. God is NOT against self-defense -- and if I'm hearing Roger correctly, he LONGS FOR THE DAY when he can use his God-mandated weapon in self-defense -- but only for, you know, killing a thief and stuff (possibly a sodomite). 6. In the Old Testament, you were allowed to kill anyone who came into your house at night; but, if someone comes into your house during the day, you're not allowed -- and in this context, he referred to California as "almost a communist country" because you can get in trouble for killing someone for breaking into your house at night -- and if it's teenagers stealing your stuff during the day time, you have to use discretion. He really said all this stuff. 7. Biblically-speaking there is no reason why a Christian should be anti-gun -- and "today there are politicians who want to install laws called gun control laws" -- after which he disparages "liberal politicians" and says "in California, it's almost impossible to get a gun" -- which is nonsensical. 8. The reasons gun control is bad: Russian commies had gun control and they exterminated political dissidents (although I guess he would have been OK if those were homosexuals), the Turks had gun control and they exterminated Armenians because they were unarmed (although he would have been OK if those were homosexuals), the Nazis had gun control and they exterminated Jews and others (although he doesn't acknowledge a lot of them were homosexuals), the Chinese commies have gun control and they exterminated dissidents (although he would have been OK if those were homosexuals), Guatemala had gun control and they exterminated Mayan Indians (no mention of homosexuals), Uganda had gun control and they exterminated Christians ("I'm not talking about Jews, I'm not talking about political dissidents, I'm not talking about Mayans" or homosexuals), Cambodia had gun control and they exterminated "educated people" (and he didn't mention he's against education)(and homosexuals). And those were the main points... here is the rest... So, next time you hear a politician who wants gun control, ask him who he wants to kill. He claims this is a sermon... and then he added: Australia has gun control and now homicides are up, assaults are up, armed robberies are up because (goes into typical NRA talking points, including "spoons don't make you fat")(doesn't mention an abject lack of extermination). Said, "liberalism is a mental disorder." And, again, he calls this a sermon -- he says this overtly political shit -- advocating overtly partisan perspective -- and does not pay taxes. Pays no taxes. Says "gun rights are here to protect us from the tyranny of government." Then reads the 2nd Amendment and explains what the Founding Fathers meant. If that's not an overtly political perspective -- and advocation -- then nothing can be considered political. Other quotes: "The government should be afraid of us." "America should be a well-stocked, well-armed militia that can protect itself." Doesn't like 10-day waiting periods. Apparently buys his guns at Big 5. "If you do something to me that's so bad that I want to kill so-and-so, and you make me wait ten days? That's only going to make me more mad -- that's going to make me want to kill you AND so-and-so." Believes Switzerland issues every household a gun, which is absolutely incorrect -- and claims that is why there is "no punk kid breaking into the house in Switzerland." He is a moron -- he dreams of killing -- and he is sick with persecution complex and a desire for martyrdom. Says everyone should buy a gun and acknowledges it would be difficult for the felons in the room -- because at least 1/3rd of his adult male parishioners are probably that. He wants to arm every teacher. AND THE KICKER: "Vote no for gun control laws"
