The signatures, artwork, and camp anecdotes that are written on the walls of the Interlochen cabins represent a legacy young artists across generations. It is not necessary to deprive future campers access to this unofficial legacy because of a few bad words. Not only is it unnecessary, but it is also wrong. Questionable words and pictures can be easily blocked out, but the signatures of decades of passionate young people can never be replaced. To remove these signatures is to erase part of Interlochen’s most pure and honest history; the history of its campers. Any current or former camper will attest to the fact that these wall writings are a cornerstone of the Interlochen experience. To remove them for future campers would be a true tragedy.
