Integrity Oversight for Montgomery County PA AND Justice for Donte’ Jones & Joseph Wesley

The Issue

I was born and raised in this county and enjoyed its plush scenery, stellar schools and predominantly safe neighborhoods. I grew up and became a voter so that I can affect change and I was happy until I unfortunately discovered the other side to our county. Through a friend I started researching our judicial system and it’s practices and was appalled at my discoveries.
Montgomery  county has a 98% conviction rate and has for years, however, they achieve this by ignoring basic yet fundamental laws put in place to protect due process. They don’t properly investigate crimes, and rely on deals offered to unscrupulous people. Did you know they offer deals to opioid dealers to which our county is a great sufferer of the opioid crisis. I have found that they circumvent McClelland by denying the accused the right to cross examine the accuser. They push non prima facia cases through to trial so not to anger the prosecution office. I know for a fact, they are sweeping a huge Brady violation under the rug and am more that happy to share. It is time we demand oversight and remind the judges, prosecutors, and police they work for us and not each other. I would rather live in a county with an 80% conviction rate if I know that truly guilty people are going to jail, then send any innocent person to jail for something they did not do!

There is a current case that Montgomery County detectives in conjunction with the Whitpain Township Police are failing to investigate and perform an autopsy on. That is the tragic case of Mr. Donte’ Perez Jones, a US Veteran and father. He was found hanging from play equipment on June 17, 2022 in Wentz Park behind the Whitpain Township Police Department. His mother is adamant that not only did Donte’ not commit suicide, but would never lynch himself. To make matters worse, without bringing attention to the situation, she’ll never know. They ruled it a suicide and although she requested an autopsy, they are refusing to do one. Please help his parents and children find the trust by signing and demanding that a proper investigation be done.

Now, Joseph Wesley, who has recently been wrongly convicted. Despite the fact that there is no evidence proving his guilt, despite being denied a proper habeas, despite being denied a nominal bail in violation of Rule 600 all on the word of someone who chose to lie in order to protect the true perpetrator, who happens to be his relative. Yes, Joseph has a criminal record, and for that I make no excuses. One thing I can say though, If you look at his past crimes A. They were not violent, and B. He admitted wrong doing. For those past crimes, it is my belief that Montgomery County chose not to give him a fair trial in this wrongful conviction case. Even if he had committed this crime, sentencing guidelines and prior sentence score calls for a 7-14 year sentence when instead, Montgomery County opted to give 2 consecutive 20-40 years. Yes, you read that correctly!

I humbly ask that you sign this petition so that I may present to our DA Kevin Steele, and our AG Josh Shapiro and governor Tom Wolf. Let’s show Montgomery county whether you are a resident or not, that we will no longer tolerate the injustices and abuse of black & brown people. Thank you for supporting #ShatteredDreamZ and shattereddreamz.com
