Who is impacted: All veterans, It seems that the Veterans Administration likes to change things to make it harder on veterans. Per ADA guidelines veterans are allowed to train their service dogs. But per the Veterans Administration if they do their service dog does not qualify for SERVICE DOG VETERINARY HEALTH INSURANCE BENEFIT (VHIB). Which I feel is in violation of the Americans Disability Act. Per ADA Service animals are:Dogs,
 Any breed and any size of dog.Trained to perform a task directly related to a person’s disability
Service animals are not:Required to be certified or go through a professional training program.
Required to wear a vest or other ID that indicates they’re a service dog.
 Emotional support or comfort dogs, because providing emotional support or comfort is not a task related to a person’s disability. Which the VA does not go by.In order to qualify the dog must be trained and from an Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or International Guide Dog
Federation (IGDF) accredited service dog organization. We as veterans are impacted by this due to paying out of pocket for any an all treatment emergency or other wise an takes away from what little the VA pays us each month. Now is the time to act to show the VA that they should not be the ones to dictate what they will start doing to help veterans instead of pushing us to become one of the 22 a day which is really 107+ a day.
