Insurance Coverage for Young Adult Cancer Patients to Preserve Fertility

70,000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer each year.
ALL are facing infertility as a side effect of life-saving cancer treatment.
The vast majority of insurance companies and HMOs do not cover fertility preservation!!
It costs an average of $400 for a man to freeze sperm and $14,000 for a woman to freeze eggs. That means more men than women can afford the out of pocket expense.
Thanks to CA Assemblymember Anthony Portantino, we can do something about this critical issue. Legislation, AB 428, will extend insurance coverage to ALL California residents to preserve their fertility prior to undergoing cancer treatment.
This is huge, if we pass California, we can pass other states until every young adult with cancer gets the option to preserve their fertility. And the financial analysis shows the cost to cover fertility preservation to be small ranging from NO INCREASE to just $0.0373 per member per month!!!
Ask California to vote YES on AB 428 regardless of where in the world you live!
