From personal experience, I know the dire need for safer road conditions on Mottram road in Hyde. A young girl was recently hit by a car on this road. Though she survived the accident, the event underlines the urgent necessity for improved safety measures. The road in question, particularly around the nursery and the main lights, sees a high influx of young children vulnerable who may decide to cross, we are putting our children's life at risk every day. Studies show that zebra crossings considerably reduce traffic speeds, often down to safer limits (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Furthermore, lowering this road's speed limit to 20mph could significantly reduce the risk of accidents. Implementing these steps would ensure the Mottram road is safe for all, especially our children. Please sign the petition to lobby our local council to address this dangerous issue. We need as much support and help from the local community to ensure these measures have been met. We need at least 100.000 signatures to make these changes take effect immediately there are parents who walk with they children to Godley school who frequently cross the very busy road of Mottram road especially at the T junction traffic lights. There has been times where children have been crossing and cars are still merging on to Halton st these are just some of the examples given , however over the last 20 years being a resident of Hyde godly area it’s about time we make a change
