As a deeply held personal belief, I find pornography to be sacrilegious and objectionable. Its pervasiveness is an affront to my values and by extension, those who uphold decency and morality. This concern is not only out of personal conviction, but also due to the detrimental societal consequences of such content. Various studies suggest a direct correlation between pornography consumption and detrimental social effects such as increased rates of sexual violence and a distorted view of relationships (American Psychological Association, 2007). Web filtering company Netspark estimated that in 2017, roughly 30% of all internet data was pornographic, highlighting its widespread accessibility. In light of these worrisome statistics, I am compelled to propose a comprehensive ban on pornography.
