Hi all. We now have 2030 supporters of this petition and still many many more are needed. No response so far from the local, State, Territory or Federal representatives for Canberra and Eden Monaro.
Just outside of Canberra on the Monaro Highway towards Cooma and the Snowies there are certain wildlife corridors where animals regularly cross the highway. Their bodies pile up in these areas. If we could get fencing in these areas with animals redirected to underpass crossings and and/or reduced speed areas many hundreds of collisions could be avoided.
We need to get this issue onto the local state and federal politicians radar to get some commitment and action to reduce damage to vehicles and wildlife.
Many supporters have become promoters and their considerable donations have helped spread the petition further and added many signatures.
To help even further please repost the petition to as many places as possible.
If you would like to assist further you could also go to the website of Chris Steel, Canberra MLA and Minister for Transport or send him an email at steel@act.gov.au and request that he join forces with the NSW state and federal members to make the Monaro Highway a test case, an example for how it can be done across the State and Territory.
Also please go to the website of Steve Whan the NSW state member for Eden/Monaro and/or to Kristy McBain the federal member and fill out a contact form and request that they take some action on this issue.
Thanks for all your help so far.
Regards
Ted
