"Install Water Bowls for Stray Animals in Ranchi – Because Every Life Matters"
The Issue
📜 Petition Body:
My name is Manshi Singh, a law graduate currently doing an online internship with an animal welfare organization. Even though I’m not physically on the field, the issues I’ve learned about — especially the daily struggles of stray animals — have deeply affected me.
In Ranchi and many other cities, stray dogs, cats, and birds suffer silently due to the extreme heat and complete lack of water sources. I’ve seen photos and videos from our NGO’s rescue teams that show animals trying to drink from sewage lines, plastic waste, or just lying weak on hot roads.
We can’t ignore this anymore. That’s why I am starting this petition — not just as an intern, but as a citizen, a law graduate, and someone who believes in basic compassion.
⚠️ What I'm Demanding:
To the Ranchi Municipal Corporation and concerned local authorities:
1. Place permanent water bowls in parks, markets, temples, bus stops, and near residential colonies.
2. Ensure regular cleaning and refilling through municipal staff or assigned volunteers.
3. Run a small awareness drive to encourage shopkeepers and residents to contribute by placing bowls outside their homes.
⚖️ Why This Is Also a Legal Duty:
Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 considers denying animals food and water as cruelty.
In Animal Welfare Board of India v. A. Nagaraja (2014), the Supreme Court extended Article 21 (Right to Life) to include animals’ right to live with dignity.
As per Article 51A(g) of our Constitution, every citizen must have compassion for living creatures.
This isn’t just an act of kindness. It is a legal and civic responsibility.
