For most residents of Freehold and Manalapan township who are utilizing intersection of Thompson Grove Rd and County Rt 537, the intersection  has been a constant source of anxiety and stress. It poses an extremely high risk for motor vehicle accidents, and each day brings the exasperating challenge of long waits to safely make a left turn onto Route 537, especially during work hours. With a growing number of families in the area, many of whom have teenagers who are new drivers, the potential for fatal accidents is a deeply troubling reality.

A traffic light at this intersection is not merely a convenience—it is a necessity. As the volume of traffic continues to increase, the dangers posed by this intersection grow exponentially. New drivers, unfamiliar with the nuances of such a problematic junction, are at significant risk. According to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, intersections without signals are among the leading contributors to road accidents.

The benefits of installing a traffic light are clear and plentiful. It will regulate the flow of traffic, minimize confusion for drivers, and most importantly, substantially reduce the risk of accidents. Traffic signals have been shown to decrease traffic accidents by up to 40%, providing our community with safer roads and increased peace of mind.

The cost of inaction could be devastating—loss of lives, prolonged injuries, and the long-lasting trauma that follows. We cannot afford to wait for another accident to happen. The lives of our community members depend on prompt action.
