Install Toilets / Community Garden at Coldstream Reserve Park - Cambridge Hills Preschool
The issue
Every visit to Coldstream Reserve Park in Rankin Park, NSW, is a delightful journey for our children at Cambridge Hills Preschool. Known to our children as the "wooden park," it is a space of joy and adventure. However, our happy excursions are often cut short due to the absence of toilet facilities. This lack of basic amenities makes it challenging for our children to fully enjoy the beauty and leisure the park offers.
Cambridge Hills Preschool believes that every child deserves to explore and learn about the world around them without limitations. Access to public toilets at Coldstream Reserve would mean our children could engage in longer, more enriching outdoor experiences, contributing positively to their growth and development.
Beyond providing essential facilities, we envision adding a community garden to the park, a space not only for beauty but for education about sustainability. Our children, who are actively learning about sustainability, could help nurture this garden, instilling values of environmental stewardship from a young age. This garden would serve not only as an educational tool but also as a communal project, fostering a greater sense of community and responsibility among residents of Rankin Park.
According to Sydney's Metropolitan Greenspace Program, access to recreational spaces with facilities significantly enhances well-being and community engagement. Coldstream Reserve Park draws numerous families, and ours is just one of many that would benefit greatly from these upgrades, aligning with the vision of inclusive, community-centric spaces where safety, learning, and joy are priorities.
We urge the local council to consider our request for installing toilets and creating a community garden at Coldstream Reserve. This initiative will not only enhance the park's usability but also foster a healthier, more connected community in Rankin Park.
This is more than a petition, it’s a chance to teach our children that their voices matter, that they can contribute to positive change, and that even small actions can make a big difference in the community they love.
Join us in transforming Coldstream Reserve Park into a more accessible and sustainable environment. Sign this petition to let your voice be heard.
