I know this firsthand because I was tragically struck by a motorcycle while walking, an incident that confined me to the hospital for six agonizing months.

This hazard affects our entire community, particularly our vulnerable children who have to navigate this dangerous path daily. According to the World Health Organization, road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5-29. Such statistics are not just numbers; they're a chilling reality that becomes personal when someone you know or love is affected.

The solution is straightforward yet effective. Installing speed reductors and clearly painting all the speed bumps along with the center road line will force vehicles to slow down. These measures are proven to reduce traffic speeds and increase safety. According to a study conducted by the US Department of Transportation, speed humps can reduce traffic speed by 6-7 miles per hour in affected areas, significantly lowering the risk of accidents.
