The safety of our children and community members in Deeping St. Nicholas is at serious risk due to persistent speeding on the main road leading to and from the village. The stretch of road outside Deeping St. Nicholas School, extending to the end of the village, has been the site of numerous near-misses and accidents, endangering pedestrians and drivers alike.

Despite previous efforts to mitigate speeding through the use of signage and cameras, these measures have proven insufficient. Cameras, though helpful, do not physically impede speeding vehicles. Therefore, we strongly advocate for the installation of speed bumps along this critical stretch of road as a more effective solution to slow down traffic and enhance safety.

Statistics from similar communities have shown a significant reduction in speed-related incidents following the implementation of speed bumps. According to the UK Department for Transport, areas with speed humps see a 40% reduction in accidents involving pedestrians. Implementing this measure on our road can provide a safer environment for our children, families, and all residents, allowing them to walk or cycle without fear.
