The Issue

Earlier this month, my heart was shattered when my beloved dog was struck by a speeding vehicle on our street. Our once peaceful neighborhood has become a dangerous area due to speeding cars. Residents, children, and pets are constantly at risk as reckless driving becomes more prevalent. It's time to reclaim our streets and ensure they are safe for everyone.

Our neighborhood, like many others, is supposed to be a safe haven where children play and families walk their pets without fear. However, speeding has become a significant issue, turning these areas into potential hazards. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, speeding is a factor in 26% of all traffic fatalities, highlighting the critical need for solutions that enforce lower speeds, particularly in residential zones.

The installation of speed bumps is a proven method to reduce traffic speed and enhance the safety within residential neighborhoods. A study conducted by the Institute of Transportation Engineers shows that streets with speed bumps can reduce traffic accidents by up to 40%, offering a tangible solution to our community’s problem. Speed bumps are designed to gently slow down vehicles, providing an effective deterrent against speeding.

We are calling on local authorities to take immediate action by installing speed bumps on our street and other affected areas in the neighborhood. This measure will not only protect our pets and families but also create a more livable, community-friendly environment.

Please sign this petition to urge our local government to prioritize the safety of their residents and commit to installing speed bumps. It's time for us to unite for safer streets and spare others the pain and loss that speeding can cause. Let's make our voices heard and bring about the change our neighborhood desperately needs.
