For the past eight years, I have called John King Road my home, witnessing firsthand the escalating traffic issues that have become a daily concern. Excessive speed and reckless driving have transformed our once peaceful neighborhood into a perilous stretch of road. My family and I, along with our neighbors, face this threat every day, and the fear for our safety continues to grow. It's not just about my family; it’s about the safety of all families residing here, the children playing, the elderly commuting, and everyone who considers this neighborhood their home.

John King Road, between Live Oak Road and its endpoint, has increasingly become a thoroughfare for drivers seeking to bypass busy routes, leading to a surge in traffic volume. Unfortunately, this increase has brought with it an alarming rise in drivers exhibiting dangerous behaviors that put at risk the lives of people who reside along the road. Every day, there are near misses, screeching tires, and heart-stopping moments that no family should experience.

In response to this urgent issue, the implementation of speed bumps emerges as a practical and effective solution to curb these problems. Speed bumps have been proven to significantly reduce vehicle speeds and enhance safety. As per the Institute of Transportation Engineers, speed bumps can reduce speed by up to 20% and, more importantly, they have been associated with a decrease in accidents in residential areas.

We urge the city officials of Crestview, FL, to prioritize the installation of speed bumps on this critical stretch of John King Road. By taking this action, we can proactively preserve our community's safety and ensure a secure environment for all residents. Having measures in place that protect us fosters not just safety, but also peace of mind for every family calling this neighborhood home.

Law enforcement has been involved numerous times but are having a hard time countering the issues. They continue to work to ensure that the public is safe but we need to ensure it holds firm.
