Install Speed Bumps on Camden St. in Indianapolis, IN

Install Speed Bumps on Camden St. in Indianapolis, IN
The Issue
Too many vehicles use Camden Street to bypass the light at the intersection of US-31 and Thompson. Unfortunately, this leads to a dangerous situation for the residents living between Thompson and Epler. Despite having a single speed limit sign facing north, most drivers disregard it, zipping through our neighborhood as if they are still on the highway. The lack of sidewalks exacerbates the risk, leaving pedestrians without safe spaces to walk. Meanwhile, the safety hazards extend beyond pedestrians; we have witnessed multiple instances where pets and even mailboxes have been struck by speeding vehicles.
The current traffic situation on Camden Street is unsustainable and poses a serious risk to our community's safety. Action is needed to transform our street back into a safe haven it should be for families, children, and pets alike.
Installing speed bumps would effectively slow down traffic, forcing drivers to adhere to speed limits and consequently reducing the speed of vehicles passing through our area. Speed bumps have proven effective in numerous neighborhoods across the country, and they could be the solution we desperately need here in Indianapolis.
Implementing these measures will also significantly reduce the likelihood of accidents involving pedestrians, pets, and property. Safety must take precedence and by signing this petition, you will help urge Indianapolis city officials to prioritize the installation of speed bumps on Camden Street. Together, we can make our neighborhood a safer place for everyone. Please sign this petition to support this crucial change.
