Living in the Carrington neighborhood, I've witnessed firsthand the increasing danger on our roads. Garner Avenue and University Drive are bustling with activity daily, children playing, school buses making their routine stops, and, regrettably, drivers using these streets as their personal racetrack.

The current situation endangers not only our children but also all residents and visitors. Aggressive driving, speeding, and reckless behavior have plagued our once-peaceful neighborhood. In a neighborhood as lively as Carrington, the absence of speed deterrents such as speed bumps is an oversight that leaves us vulnerable to these statistics.

I have requested a sign for my Autistic child which was denied. The reason? It would desensitize drivers. I also requested speed bumps which was also denied. The reason? The maintenance would be too much work and costly. Installing speed bumps along Garner Ave and University Drive could significantly alter the current pattern of unsafe driving and I believe our children's safety is important.

Families within our community deserve peace of mind, knowing their children can safely play outside, people can walk and cycle safely, and the school buses can make their stops without fear of speeding cars. Implementing these safety measures would show a commitment to protecting our residents, creating a safer environment for all.
