Install Speed Bumps and Stop Signs on Wide Acres Rd

Install Speed Bumps and Stop Signs on Wide Acres Rd
The Issue
I'm sure everyone in the neighborhood has noticed the increased traffic and the increased incidents of speeding on Wide Acres Rd since Jefferson County Road & Bridge completed re-paving this summer. As a resident deeply invested in our community's well-being, I feel compelled to raise awareness about the urgent need for traffic safety measures in our neighborhood. If nothing is done to slow drivers down, it's not a matter of if, but of when someone is seriously injured or, let's all hope not, killed while walking along Wide Acres Rd.
Wide Acres Rd connects several residential areas and is a route frequently used by pedestrians of all ages, including children walking to and from school and residents enjoying a stroll. The refurbishment has led to smoother lanes, unfortunately enticing drivers to increase their speed, turning what should be a quiet, safe road into a potential hazard.
Statistics released by road safety organizations suggest that implementation of speed control measures, such as speed bumps and stop signs, can reduce accidents by up to 60%. With local schools and parks nearby, it is our responsibility to ensure the safety of our families and neighbors.
The solution is clear and achievable. By installing multiple speed bumps and strategically placed stop signs along Wide Acres Rd, we can effectively calm the traffic, enforce lower speeds, and significantly reduce the risks of accidents.
We are calling on the Jefferson County Road & Bridge department and local government officials to prioritize this initiative for the safety and security of our community. With strong community backing, we can prompt the necessary changes to protect every resident, pedestrian, and commuter using our roads.
Please join me in signing this petition to demand the immediate implementation of these essential traffic safety measures. Together, we can make a difference and safeguard our community.
