Used masks thrown on roads will start another pandemic & are we ready for it?

Hello People,

I am Vivek Gurav, Founder of Pune Ploggers & we have been cleaning the city streets since last year. The current way of medical waste disposal is a really threatening scene.

The situation is same be it any city! We need to demand installation of bins specific to medical waste disposal.

The Covid-19 pandemic has created a mass surge is the usage of disposable masks and gloves. These single use-masks and gloves are being disposed of by citizens in an irresponsible manner. 

I am a resident of Pune and I feel it is a threat to the health of the entire city. Whenever I am walking down the road I find many medical masks lying on the road.

I still remember the flash floods that occurred last year in different cities and that was primarily because of plastic that blocked all the drainage and sewage pipelines across the city.

Single-use masks have a huge potential to turn into mass devastation in the future and they will be a "new plastic bottle" which has been causing problems for more than a decade now!

We demand the installation of Mask Disposal Bins across the city and the local body needs to step in to address the responsible disposal of these masks.

Citizens do not see any implementation done by the local body in this aspect and this is proving to be a threat to the environment and health of citizens.
