The City of Hackensack has had too many people fatally struck by passenger trains. The absence of safety fences along the railroad tracks that run through our residential neighborhood is a grave concern that needs immediate attention.

According to the Federal Railroad Administration, there were 1,008 pedestrian rail trespass casualties (fatalities + injuries) across the U.S. in 2020 alone. This alarming statistic highlights an urgent need for preventive measures to enhance pedestrian safety near railroad tracks.
